Vision
The aim of the conference is to expose students and young adults to good Bible-driven teaching and to equip them to read the Bible for themselves.
This is done in order that they may live lives that are pleasing to our Lord Jesus. It is our vision that they will use the skills and knowledge obtained from Equip and put it into practice for the benefit, not only of themselves, but also to the benefit of the people they interact with throughout their lives.
"Absolutely amazing conference - I am completely transformed. God's Word is amazing & I'm excited that I can read it & most importantly UNDERSTAND IT!. God bless you." - Equip 2011 attendee
The way we execute our vision is in a three pronged mission: Bible Talks, Workshops and Electives.
1. Bible Talks
It is our ambition to get some of the best Bible teachers in the country and abroad to model and expose young adults to good Bible teaching.
2. Workshops
The workshops are the the nuts and bolts of the conference and gives the young adults an opportunity to deal with the Bible hands-on.
There are three strands that form the basis of the workshops and each year a student attends they move on the next strand.
Strand 1 is aimed at teaching the skills and tools to understand a New Testament Bible passage. Strand 2 uses the tools of strand 1 and expands it and applies it to an Old Testament passage. In strand 3 these tools are use to look at what the Bible teaches on a particular topic (e.g. "slavery").
Those who have complete the first three strands enter strand 4 which changes each year.
3. Electives
The aim of the electives are to anchor what a student learns in the workshops (and Bible talks) in a particular ministry like Children's Ministry or Music Ministry. The electives helps one to think about how to teach and apply the Bible in a particular context of ministry.
The electives are broken up into two or three sessions so that a particular ministry can be dealt with in sufficient depth.
